She Passed Away When She Was Just 18, But When Her Mother Glanced At Her Coffin Her Heart Is Filled With Warmth
Nothing worries a parent more than the possibility of losing a kid. Ask any parent, anywhere in the world, and they will tell you the same thing.
Laura Hillier’s parents, who lost their daughter to leukemia at the age of 13, had to deal with that sad fact. She was officially proclaimed cancer-free four years later, but the illness returned with a tragic twist.
Tragically, on January 20, 2016, Laura, a gifted and well-liked student at Nelson High School in Ontario, Canada, passed away.
Through a Facebook page they had created to inform friends and followers of her struggles, her family officially verified the news.
“She fought bravely and all of you would have been so proud of her. Her poise, her courage, her strength and her pure spirit shone through right until the end,” her family wrote.
At Laura’s burial, her classmates and instructors did something really special to honor her and her remarkable courage: they customized her casket to symbolize how much they all loved and missed Laura.
Soon after, images of Laura’s coffin began to circulate online. therefore it’s understandable why they attracted so much interest.
Laura Hillier passed away in late January of 2016. While awaiting a transplant, she passed away from acute myeloid leukemia at the age of barely 18.
According to accounts, the adolescent passed away in a hospital surrounded by loved ones.
Laura was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 13, which sparked her battle against cancer. She had numerous rounds of treatment over the course of a difficult four years before being officially certified cancer-free.
Sadly, though, her cancer returned with greater vigor in May 2015.
Laura was well-known for her passion for theater and music. She went to Nelson High School in Ontario, Canada.
It is said that Laura’s friends chose to incorporate the idea of taking notes in high school yearbooks into Laura’s funeral. They wanted her to have the kind of heartfelt farewell that a dear friend and student should have received.
The outcome was as delightfully lovely as one could have imagined. In honor of Laura’s life, messages were placed on her coffin by her friends, neighbors, teachers, classmates, and the hospital personnel who attended to her.
Their entire casket was covered in heartfelt, handwritten inscriptions.
The outpouring of sympathy for Laura’s family was overwhelming when they read the greetings.
One said: “You were musical. You were artistic. You were understanding. You were my bestest friend.”
Another read: “Very brave and strong. You will always be a hero.”
Laura’s favorite color, purple, was clearly seen throughout the funeral. Every guest at the wedding had some purple on show somewhere on their attire, and the church was decked out with purple flowers.
Although it should go without saying that Laura left this world too soon, the affection her neighborhood has shown for her is unquestionably touching.
Laura, may you rest in peace.
