See What Heather Locklear Is Up To Now – She is Bouncing Back After Years of Struggle

Decades after her breakthrough role in Melrose Place, Heather Locklear is still one of Hollywood’s most recognizable names.

Heather Locklear, 61, has been through a difficult period in the previous few years due to her public struggles with substance misuse, mental health issues, and legal run-ins. However, in 2023, she has been fighting her way back to health and is now more vibrant than ever.

When Heather showed up unkempt and unsteady on a recent outing early this year, it raised concerns.

Fans were concerned that she was relapsing due to her obviously erratic behavior, which included talking to herself while her fiancé, Chris Heisser, waited for her in the car. However, it seems that Heather had some distressing information. Hey, having a bad day is okay for everyone!

A few days later, however, the couple was beaming and holding hands at the Westlake Village Farmers Market, where Heather was photographed cuddling her dog and seemed to be in high spirits.

She looked through the produce and talked to the sellers. Later, the couple went to a Mediterranean restaurant for lunch, where they spent more than an hour chatting.

Here, we look at Heather Locklear’s ascent to prominence and the obstacles she overcame in recent years to emerge happy and successful.

Heather Locklear TV shows

The epitome of a Southern California girl was Heather. After receiving her degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, she started modeling and doing commercial work for the university store.

Mega producer Aaron Spelling saw young Locklear from her early 1980s roles in CHiPs, 240-Robert, and Eight is Enough. Spelling took her under his wing and helped her become the celebrity she is today.

In 1981, Spelling starred her as Sammy Jo Dean on Dynasty. The next year, he paired her with William Shatner in the police drama T.J. Hooker, where she played rookie Officer Stacy Sheridan.

Every week, millions of people tune in to watch the gorgeous Sheridan battle criminals. Locklear alternated between Dynasty and T.J. Hooker.

Playing one of her most well-known roles as cunning Amanda Woodward, who dazzled spectators with her skimpy skirts and form-fitting suit jacket, Melrose Place debuted in 1993. Locklear initially signed a contract with Spelling for a run of four episodes, but due to the enormous popularity of her character, she joined the cast full-time.

At the height of Melrose’s fame, Locklear was listed twice on People’s 50 Most Beautiful People—in 1994 and 2001—and appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in May of that same year.

All told, Locklear and Spelling worked together on eight television shows: Rich Men, Single Women, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Hotel, Matt Houston, Dynasty, and T.J. Hooker.

A troubled personal life

Following Melrose Place, Heather’s private life, health, and legal issues continued to make headlines. In 1986, she married Tommy Lee, the drummer for Motley Crue, and the two had a seven-year marriage.

She married another rock star, Richie Sambora, the guitarist for Bon Jovi, in December 1994 in Paris, following their divorce. Ava is the couple’s daughter. In 2006, Heather filed for divorce from Sambora.

After receiving a 911 call in March 2008, following allegations that the actress was attempting suicide—an allegation Heather refuted—she was admitted to a hospital in Arizona to treat psychological issues, such as sadness and anxiety.

Following her four weeks of therapy, Heather returned home to the Los Angeles region, but a few months later she was pulled over for suspected drunk driving.

It was quickly discovered that she might not have been able to drive because of her prescription medications.

Over the years, there were maybe 20 different rehab stays and several other emergency medical calls.

Then there came the incident in which Heather was detained for suspected domestic abuse in February 2018. Later the same year, she was admitted to the hospital in what appeared to be an overdose situation.

She has, however, turned things around and discovered genuine love in the last several years, which has helped her stay on the straight and narrow. Furthermore, Heather Locklear is doing better than ever in 2023.

Meet Heather Locklear’s fiancé

When the former Spin City actress and Chris Heisser were both students at Newbury Park High School in Los Angeles, they initially became acquainted.

Before graduating in 1979 and finally parting ways, they were high school sweethearts.

They reconnected five years ago and had intermittent relationships while Heather battled drug addiction and attended treatment under court supervision.

As Heather focused on sobriety, their love blossomed and Heisser proposed around the time she celebrated being one year sober. “A wedding is so not important,” Heather told People.

“We’re together, and we love each other and support each other. And really, that’s all that matters. I’m like, You’re my man for the rest of my life, whether we get married or not. He just has my back, and I have his. He truly is super special to me.”

It’s the happy ending Heather’s friends wished for the star, and who knows, maybe Chris will marry Heather Locklear in 2023.

What is Heather Locklear doing now?

As her career progresses, Locklear is in a much better place now. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story, a Lifetime film from 2021, was her final appearance in front of the camera.

In 2023, Heather Locklear is happier than ever spending time with her daughter, Ava, and her ultimate goal now is to get back out there and do what she does best — dazzling us on screen.

Thriving in all aspects of life, Locklear proves that getting older doesn’t limit anyone from reaching their full potential. “I’ve always loved getting older because it means I’m alive,” Locklear told People Magazine. “I’m so grateful. I don’t really give a hoot. I don’t give a hoot about how I look. My parents still love me. My daughter loves me. I feel young. It’s all about perspective.”

And we’re eager to find out what she does next.
