Sad News For Michael Strahan‘s Daughter Isabella

Lizzie Strahan, Michael Strahan’s daughter, recently gave a sad update on her fight with brain cancer.

In an honest vlog on her YouTube page, the 20-year-old talked about her time with chemotherapy.

In the video called “Vlog 8: Recovering from Chemo at Home,” the 20-year-old woman bravely talked about how much pain she’s in during her treatment.

Isabella talked about how painful her experience was, comparing it to a “heart attack” while putting an ice pack on her freshly shaved head to ease her headache. “Everything hurts,” she admitted, pointing out that her eyes, mouth, and jaw were all aching.

“My eyes are strained. They hurt to look to the sides. My whole mouth feels like I got one giant root canal of my whole mouth of every single tooth and just ripped out and not even surgically put back in,” she added. “My jaw hurts, the bottom of my tongue hurts when I gulp water.”

She even said that because chemotherapy hurts her body so much, she would rather have radiation or brain surgery than chemotherapy.

“This one’s just the longest journey. Just the hardest,” Isabella explained, voicing her concerns about potential complications during treatment. She said that the fear of the unknown is weighing heavily on her mind: “I feel. It’s like, ‘Oh, no. My heart hurts. That could mean I’m having a heart attack.’ Or like, my eyes strained, what if my eyes stop working? Or like, what if my teeth just rot and fall out? I don’t know.”

While things were hard, Isabella said she was glad to be back home and sleeping in her own bed. She said that even though she felt safe in the hospital, she was glad to be back in a place she knew.

She also talked about her time in the hospital and the special times she had with her dad and twin sister Sophia Strahan in the vlog.

Isabella gave an update after she and her father talked about her diagnosis on Good Morning America in an emotional episode. Isabella talked about the signs she had before she was diagnosed. She said she started out with headaches and feeling sick, but she didn’t think much of it until she woke up and started throwing up blood.

After a number of tests, doctors found that Isabella had a medulloblastoma, a type of cancerous brain tumor. Michael Strahan was away from GMA for more than three weeks because of “personal family matters,” but he didn’t tell the world what those issues were at the time.

Isabella is strong, even though she has to deal with a lot of problems. She finished her last round of radiation in January, after freezing her eggs in answer to her diagnosis. Of course, our thoughts are with her and her family during this hard time.

Michael Strahan gives us new information

Michael said on Good Morning America not long ago, that “The last three days have been a little rough because she [Isabella] had a fever that kind of comes and goes.”

He continued: “I had to take her to the hospital and thought she’d come home a few hours later … It’s been three days, but hopefully she’ll be home today.”

Michael also said that Isabella has had “expected” side effects from her cancer treatment at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina. He did say, though, that the process had still been hard.

He told the other hosts, “It is tough to see her go through it, but I know she’s a tough young lady and she’s going to make it through it.”

Michael did say, though, that the support their family has gotten from other family members, friends, and online fans has helped them get through this.

“I think, for her, so many people have reached out and said, ‘I’m glad you’re doing this,’ ‘Thank you for doing this,’ ‘This has really helped us,’” he said. “All that support that she is getting from people she doesn’t know, on top of people that she does know, has kept her in a very positive space. So thank you to everybody.”

The Strahan family is in our thoughts during this hard time, and we wish Isabella the best.
