Putin Issues An Ominous ONE-Word-Response As He Urges The World To Consider The Seriousness Of Trump’s Greenland Plans
As things get more tense in the Arctic, the Russian President made it clear that he would do whatever he thought was best to protect his country’s security.
Vladimir Putin said at the International Arctic Forum on Thursday (March 27) that he was committed to looking out for Russia’s best interests.
These concerns appear to cover more than just the political events in Europe’s northern neighbors. They also include those in the Arctic.
In his speech, Putin said that NATO member states were looking to the far north as a “foothold for possible conflicts.” He did not name any specific countries, though.

NATO members have also been holding several military drills in the Arctic. He also said that Russia has “never threatened anyone in the Arctic,” but that “we are watching recent developments very closely.”
Thereafter, Putin told these countries that he would react to what NATO members did.
He said, “[The] numbers of military servicemen in the Arctic will be rising.”
“We are developing our response capabilities by upgrading our military infrastructure.”
“We will not allow an encroachment on the sovereignty of our country… we will protect our national interests.”
It’s interesting that he also brought up Donald Trump and how many times he has said that Greenland should join the US.
People have said bad things about Trump’s words, but Putin insisted that they should be taken seriously.
The Russian leader said that the US first talked about annexing Greenland in the 1860s, but Congress turned them down and the plans were shelved.
Putin said, “It would be a grave mistake to think that the issue is just some eccentric talk of the new American administration, nothing of the kind.”
“Those plans have deep historic roots and it is obvious that the US will continue to promote their geopolitical, military and economic interests in the Arctic.”
“As for Greenland, I think that this is an issue that concerns two states and has nothing to do with us.”
“However, we are concerned by the fact that the NATO countries increasingly identify the far north as a foothold for possible conflicts.”
Greenland is a separate territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, but Trump has said that the US needs to own it for “national security and even international security.”
Both the Danish government and the Greenlandic government have said that Greenland is not for sale, but Trump still says he believes he will be successful.
Speaking to reporters alongside NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, he said, “I think it’ll happen. A boat landed there 200 years ago or something.”
“And they say they have rights to it. I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t think it is, actually.”
