Portuguese Media Reports New Madeleine McCann Theory: Alleged Drunk Driving Incident Involving German Woman And British Man

Portuguese media have accused German authorities of not conducting a thorough investigation into a report that a drunk driver ran over Madeleine McCann.

According to reports, Portuguese police were tipped off about a British guy who was ‘covering up a dark secret’ regarding his German wife driving Madeleine over while intoxicated and then concealing the body.

However, according to the Portuguese daily Correio da Manha, German authorities turned down a Portuguese request to send an undercover police investigator to try to become friends with the wife and confirm their suspicions.

“German prosecutors were asked to authorise a covert police operation with someone posing as a friend of the woman’s and trying to get her to confess, but the courts refused,” the article stated, claiming that a British husband’s sister had tipped off authorities in the UK in 2018.

“It was decided to continue solely with the investigation into suspect Christian Brueckner, rejecting other possibilities.”

The mystery pair, according to Correio da Manha, were “alcoholics,” and the wife had been drinking close to the Ocean Club the night Madeleine vanished.

Additionally, it stated that the day after the three-year-old vanished, the couple’s neighbour informed authorities she had heard them rowing.

“Why did you bring her?” she claimed to have heard the man shout. repeatedly.

The Germans allegedly retaliated against Portuguese authorities after they urged them to investigate the possibility that the “German wife” had driven home “drunk” with Madeleine after running her over and then soliciting her husband’s assistance in disposing of the body at sea.

According to Correio, the unidentified British guy had passed away. Whether his German wife was still alive was not mentioned.

In a front page report today, the newspaper claimed: “The German police refused to co-operate with Portugal’s Policia Judiciaria in the investigation of a clue that pointed towards Madeleine McCann being run over and the possibility a couple disposed of her body, hours later, in the sea.”

“In 2018 a British woman went to police in the UK to say she suspected her brother had been involved in the disappearance of the youngster.”

“She said her brother was an alcoholic and since the day Madeleine vanished had appeared to hide a painful secret.”

“When British police exchanged information with the PJ, a coincidence was discovered.”

“On May 4 2007 a woman told police she had heard her neighbours arguing.”

“They were both alcoholics, he was English and she was German, and she heard the man shouting repeatedly: Why did you bring her?”

“The neighbour discovered afterwards it was the man whose sister had reported him to police and was married to the woman who had been drinking in a cafe next to the Ocean Club where little Madeleine was staying with her parents and twin siblings.”

“Another report the police had indicated that in an identical car to the one the woman was then using, around the time of Madeleine’s disappearance, a female and little girl had been seen inside.”

“The PJ concluded she could have run Madeleine over and panicked.”

According to the publication, the unidentified British man had consistently’refused to tell his sister if he had been involved in Madeleine’s death’ prior to her informing the police.

It has previously been proposed that Madeleine left her vacation apartment to find her parents, who were having tapas nearby, and then either fell in an accident or was pushed over by someone who became frightened and disposed of her body.

The Correio da Manha newspaper report has not yet received a response from Portuguese police.

A three-day ground search near the former cottage home of prime suspect Christian Brueckner near Praia da Luz, where Madeleine vanished, was concluded by German police yesterday.

Supported by Portuguese police, the operation was the first of its kind in over two years when Madeleine was last seen in May 2023 near the Arade Dam, 40 minutes away from the Algarve vacation spot.

It is believed that nothing of any significance has been discovered. In September, 47-year-old convicted paedophile Brueckner will be released from jail in Germany after serving a seven-year sentence for rape.

Brueckner has not been charged in connection with the disappearance of the British child, despite being the only suspect in Germany’s Madeleine McCann case and an official suspect in Portugal.

As vehicles with German license plates and a Portuguese car departed one of the search locations in the Atalaia neighbourhood, no immediate remarks regarding the operation’s outcome were made.

Several abandoned homes, wells, and reservoirs spanning “dozens of hectares” were found within the examined region, according to an operation source.
