Parasite Found In Brain Of 10-Year-Old Girl After Eating Undercooked Meat Leaves Experts Horrified
When people saw the CT scan of a 10-year-old child who had contracted a “rice-grain” parasite, they were shocked.
Even though it’s common knowledge that eating undercooked meat can have major negative health effects, everyone who has seen the horrific CT scans in this case will have been horrified of the possible outcomes.
The situation started in 2023 after a report on “Disseminated Whole-Body Cysticercosis,” which is basically a parasite that has spread throughout a person’s complete body, was published.
Medical experts Mohd Ilyas and Vikrant Mahajan shared CT scans of the young girl’s brain and legs in their publication.

According to their paper, the 10-year-old had many “tonic-clonic seizure” episodes that would have rendered her unconscious.
E.R. Doctor Sam Ghali M.D. posted the CT images to X (previously known as Twitter), describing them as “one of the craziest CT scans [he’s] ever seen,” because they revealed that the girl’s brain and legs were infested with parasites as a result of eating the undercooked pork.
She then experienced convulsions as a result of “innumerable” little lesions across her brain and bodily muscles.
According to Ilyas and Mahajan’s paper, eating raw or undercooked pig or ingesting faeces can result in “Cysticercosis,” an infection caused by larvae.
Ingestion of improperly cooked pork can result in the development of cysts that later mature into mature adult tapeworms.
The tapeworms may then lay eggs, which in turn give birth to larvae that travel throughout the bloodstream.
According to Dr. Sam Ghali, this contributes to over 50,000 fatalities annually and affects 50 million people globally.
The research points out that emerging nations, especially those in Asia and Africa, are more likely to have this problem.
According to Ilyas and Mahajan’s article, this is because of low access to sanitation, which might result in poor hygiene.
The CT scans made their way onto the r/Parasitology subreddit, with the top comment reading, “I’m speechless…poor baby.”
Another comment was confused by what they were looking at outside of the fact it was bad, to which another replied, “Yes. Every single shred of muscle visible on that scan is infested. It’s shocking.”
A third commented, “The fact that humans can survive this is insane. But I think I’m gonna be sick…”
The article reports that the 10-year-old’s condition has “clinically” improved, which is good news for those who are concerned about her.
This came after a round of oral steroids and antiepileptic drugs, which fortunately seem to have allayed her health concerns.
