Mother’s Effort to Keep Christmas Magic Alive Divides Family

A mother posted a concern in the r/AITA topic on Reddit. There is a significant age difference between the woman’s children from her two marriages; her eldest daughter is 25, while her two youngest children are seven and nine years old.

The mother revealed that her kids still think Santa Claus is real and will leave them gifts under the tree on Christmas morning.

Then the OP (original poster) went on to say that her daughter’s son doesn’t believe in Santa, and she’s worried that her grandson would spoil Christmas for her younger kids because of this.

In their conversation, the OP revealed that she had previously warned her daughter not to bring up the topic of Santa Claus with her grandson during the Christmas season.

In response, the daughter said that she would not force her son to lie about Santa, and the OP elaborated that her half-siblings are old enough to know that fairy tales are not true.

Subsequently, OP disclosed to her daughter that she had already decided to either have a Christmas at her own apartment or bring up the subject with her son.

Her daughter criticized the situation, saying her mother is being difficult and favoring her siblings over her on some illogical problem.

She was too hard on her daughter, according to the OP’s husband, who is backing her decision. “I just want to keep the Christmas magic alive,” OP said. She sought counsel from the Redditors for some reason.

In general, according to the Redditors that read the story the OP made a mistake and handled the matter poorly.
