Missing Utah Teen Alisa Petrov Found Safe Over 500 Miles Away In Colorado

Six weeks after going missing, a 15-year-old girl from Utah was found after entering a police station to provide her identity.

Alisa Petrov, a 15-year-old girl from South Jordan, Utah, was reported as a “runaway” on April 21, 2025, after she was seen leaving her American Fork school.

Alisa was accused by the South Jordan Police Department of “using various social media platforms and chat applications to try to meet people she met online.”

“Alisa is listed as a Runway Juvenile who is endangered,” a statement from the department read. “Any knowledge of her whereabouts should be reported to Law Enforcement immediately.”

On April 29, the department announced Alisa’s disappearance on Facebook.

After ‘walking away’ from school, the teenager ‘bought products at a neighbouring petrol station’ and was ‘later witnessed boarding a UTA train’ before getting off at Provo station, according to the report.

“Alisa reportedly asked multiple people to aid in her travel to Las Vegas,” the force added.

South Jordan Police Department says it has located Alisa

The most recent information was released earlier today (June 2) by the South Jordan Police Department.

It reads, “In the evening hours of June 1, 2025, a young female voluntarily made contact with the Colorado Springs, Colorado Police Department and identified herself as Alisa Petrov.”

“Alisa’s identity was confirmed. Alisa is in good health and safe with Colorado officials.”

According to the statement, Alisa’s parents have also been “notified of her location” and are assisting them in “bringing her home.”

The police department reveals that it has made multiple arrests in the process of finding Alisa; none of the males are charged with being involved in her disappearance, but they are accused of having contact with the adolescent before she vanished.

Arrests made within the investigation

The department identified a male from Miami, Florida named Matthew Nicholas Menard in an update on May 20.

It disclosed that it had charged him with criminal solicitation, enticing of a juvenile, and aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

A second guy, William Taylor Glines, from Texas was located, and he was charged by the police with sexual exploitation of a kid, criminal solicitation, attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor, and enticing of a minor.

The two ‘communicated with Alisa Petrov prior to her leaving school on April 21’, according to the department.

Authorities disclosed that Menard had’self-surrendered’ to the department on May 28.

A ‘third adult male’ from Herriman, Utah, Samuel Mitchell, was also taken into custody on suspicion of sexually abusing a kid.

Additionally, Alisa’s parents have expressed their opinions on a website they created in an effort to locate their daughter.

What Alisa’s parents have said

The website reads, “Thank you everyone for all your help! Thank you for sharing the news, thank you for following, and thank you for the tips! Alisa walked into a police department today on June 1 2025. She was gone for almost six weeks.”

The website expresses gratitude to the Salt Lake City FBI and the police department, as well as to the family’s friends and “Jaz from Missing In America Network” for providing the best emotional support during such trying times.
