Medical Expert Reveals Terrifying Risk Lurking On Cruise Ships Today

For one unsettling reason, a doctor is advising tourists reconsider their cruise plans.

A pediatrician who shares a variety of medical tips on his TikTok page has disclosed the reason he would never go on a cruise, and it has nothing to do with rough seas or the possibility of pirates taking over.

After learning about the alarming problem, Dr. Rubin has a much more terrifying explanation and is now advising others to reevaluate their vacation plans.

“Here’s why you’re not gonna see me on a cruise ship anytime soon, and I encourage people to consider this before they book a cruise,” he started in his viral TikTok video.

“So you know how there’s been all these cuts at federal public health agencies lately? Well one of them is the CDC’s vessel sanitation program which conducts health inspections on cruise ships at least twice a year.”

A passage from a CBA news story that said cruise ship inspectors had been “laid off amid bad year for outbreaks” was put here.

As for why this is important for your cruise, and your health, the doc explained, “They trace outbreaks to help reduce the chances of more people getting sick.”

Even worse, he says, there has been a significant increase in health scares on board since the cuts.

“We’ve already had 12 Norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships this year compared to eight last year,” he continued.

The NHS claims that the Norovirus, popularly known as the “winter vomiting bug,” causes a number of unpleasant symptoms, including headache, body aches, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Additionally, it is extremely contagious and spreads quickly in confined spaces, such as a cruise ship.

Needless to say, you don’t want that when you’re on vacation.

While on a three-week voyage from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale, the Coral Princess apparently experienced a significant Norovirus outbreak that afflicted 69 guests and 13 crew members, according to VT.

While the public spaces were being cleaned, the ill passengers and crew had to be segregated.

Additionally, according to the CDC, the Coral Princess experienced another Norovirus outbreak in January, suggesting that this was not the first time the cruise liner experienced an outbreak of this kind.

“The cuts’make no sense because it’s not funded by taxpayer dollars,.” Dr. Rubin continued to add.

“The cruise ships pay for these health inspections, so it’s not like we’re actually saving any money from the taxpayers perspective. This makes absolutely no sense,” he concluded.

Dozens of his fans concurred with the doctor in the comments, saying that a cruise vacation with a possible passenger infected with Norovirus sounds quite awful.

“Cruises are giant floating petri dishes. Ain’t worth it,” said one.

Another chimed, “Norovirus on LAND is horrendous. In a tiny cabin, on a ship, with other passengers. Ugh!”

A third added, “You could not PAY ME to go on a cruise.”
