Legendary Singer In Critical Condition Following Home Cardiac Arrest

Legendary rock star Dave Edmunds of the 1970s is in the ICU battling for his life following a severe heart arrest.

The 81-year-old artist, who is well-known for his 1970 Christmas No. 1 song, I Hear You Knocking, is reportedly in critical care after suffering brain damage as a result of a medical issue.

Dave’s distraught wife, Cici, revealed the terrible news on Facebook on Tuesday, describing the horrifying moment her husband briefly “died in my arms” before being brought back to life by medical professionals.

Cici described the incident at their Rockfield, Monmouthshire, home in detail, describing how she attempted to ‘keep him alive’ by removing fluids from his airways.

Cici then described how she’refused’ to give up on her husband in the face of a nurse performing ‘intensive CPR’ and eventually declaring Dave dead.

Cici continued by saying that Dave was revived by a “miracle,” adding that despite being intubated by medical professionals, he is still in serious condition in the hospital.

He’very clearly’ has memory loss and brain impairment, and he is at ‘high danger’ of experiencing another cardiac arrest, she added.

On how the experience affected her, she said, “I’m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience.”

“My brilliant talented funny and special Dave could really use as many peoples prayers and good wishes so to speak.”

Concluding her detailed post, she added, “Thank you all for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me. Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have.”

“But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always.”

Many encouraging messages from followers expressed their love and prayers for Dave in response to Cici’s tweet.

A musician from Cardiff Songs like “Girls Talk,” “The Promised Land,” and “Slipping Away” were among Dave’s many hits in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Dave played in several bands during his musical career, the most notable of which was Love Sculpture, which put out their first song in 1968.

Their fastest-paced rendition of Sabre Dance was their biggest hit, reaching number five on the UK Singles Chart and even attracting the attention of DJ John Peel, who played it twice during one of his performances.

Dave’s cover of Smiley Lewis’ I Hear You Knocking, which sold three million copies and even peaked at No. 4 in the US, became his Christmas number one UK hit after he went solo.

In the meanwhile, Dave and his Swedish spouse, Cecilia (Cici), reside in Monmouth, Wales, having married in 1983.
