Kiss Legend Ace Frehley Shared A Final Instagram Photo Days Before His Passing
Ace Frehley, the legendary guitarist for KISS, smiled as he passed away, but nobody realized it would be his last.
Prior to his tragic death, Frehley posted a picture to Instagram last month on September 24, 2025.
Days before he died, he canceled the rest of his 2025 gigs because of his health, which adds even more sadness to the tale.
Ace Looks So Happy’: Fans React to One of the Rocker’s Final Instagram Photos
The photo shows a heartwarming backstage moment from Frehley’s 10,000 Volts Tour. It features him sitting beside a young fan, who proudly holds up a colorful painting depicting a hand gripping a heart — a nod to the lyrics of his solo track “Rip It Out.” “Glenn wanted to share her VIP with Ace […] and her painting […] OF COURSE Ace signed it!” reads the caption of the post.
Frehley, wearing tinted aviators and a leopard-print blouse, posed next the glowing fan and gave it a thumbs-up.

“Backstage isn’t a dream- it’s your next story. VIP Meet & Greet packages are live. Step backstage and meet Ace. BIO has all the INFO 🚀,” notes the end of the caption.
But that backstage dream will now remain forever unfulfilled for fans worldwide. The comment section of Frehley’s post quickly turned into a digital memorial — a mix of early admiration and, later, heartfelt farewells. One netizen observed, “Ace looks so happy.” Meanwhile, another viewer wrote, “I hope Ace is ok!!!”
‘RIP’: Fans from Around the World Say Goodbye
Following the news of his death, the tone shifted as admirers flooded the post with tributes. “Forever the last fan photo of Ace. RIP!” highlighted one admirer, while another expressed deep gratitude, “Thanks for all Ace, [sic] Rest in Peace Our Spaceman.”
A more personal message came from a fan in South America who shared, “Dear Ace, Spaceman❤️ you were my inspiration from the first moment I saw you and heard you play guitar. I did a couple of covers of your guitar solos with my band. I hope you continue to deliver your wonderful music wherever you are now. We will miss you forever. A big hug from Chile.🤟🎸.”
Family Confirms Ace Frehley’s Peaceful Passing After Medical Crisis
A message from Frehley’s family, posted on his Instagram account, formally verified the news of his passing. According to the post, the renowned musician passed away peacefully at his Morristown, New Jersey, home after a recent fall, surrounded by his loved ones.
Frehley was 74 years old when he passed away. The statement also praised his legendary legacy as a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Grammy Award nominee, and one of the original creators of KISS’s dramatic image and explosive sound.
“Frehley is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Monique, brother Charles, sister Nancy Salvner, nieces Suncere Frehley and Julie Salvner, nephews Sky Frehley and Andrew Salvner, sister-in-law Michelanne and [sic] brother-in-law Ron Salvner. Rest in peace, Spaceman🚀,” states the end of the caption accompanying the announcement.
In the days preceding his death, Frehley’s health had been seriously deteriorating, according to a TMZ story. The site was informed by sources that the artist had a brain bleed following a fall that occurred in his workshop a few weeks prior.
He stayed on life support as his family considered the painful option to stop treatment because his condition did not improve despite being put on a ventilator.
Despite contradictory claims on the internet that he had already died on October 16, 2025, TMZ reported that Frehley was still alive as of Thursday afternoon, but in a serious condition. In the end, his family verified that Frehley died Thursday night.
September Facebook Post Warned Fans of a Medical Setback
Fans were notified on September 26 by a posting on Frehley’s official Facebook page that the late guitarist had fallen in his studio and needed to be taken to the hospital.
The statement informed fans that he was doing well, but it also revealed that Frehley had been told not to travel on his doctor’s advise. He consequently had to postpone a planned performance at Lancaster, California’s Antelope Valley Fair.
The message maintained its optimism in the face of the setback, urging fans to support other artists on the schedule and mentioning that Frehley was still eager to continue touring and finish work on his upcoming album, “Origins Vol. 3.”
Tour Cancellation Was the Final Signal Something Was Gravely Wrong
Frehley took the painful decision to postpone the rest of his 2025 tour, according to a statement posted on his Instagram account just days before he passed away. The statement informed fans that the rocker’s health has deteriorated by stating that the cancellations were due to persistent medical concerns.
For fans who had hoped to see him perform live again soon, the letter was a sobering moment, even though no other details were given at the time.
A silent farewell, a final bow from a rock veteran whose health issues were far more serious than fans first understood, is what the cancelation of Frehley’s remaining 2025 tour dates now reads as.
Peter Criss Breaks Silence with Gut-Wrenching Tribute
One of the most moving tributes from Peter Criss, Frehley’s longtime bandmate and other founding member of KISS, was among the many that were sent in from all around the world.
Criss expressed his admiration for Frehley in a heartfelt note. He also called him his “brother,” and he revealed that he and his wife were by Frehley’s side as he was dying.
Criss asked people to respect Frehley’s family’s privacy during their time of loss and offered his love and condolences. Criss concluded his devotion with the word “Broken,” which perfectly encapsulated the depth of the loss, after reflecting on his friendship with Frehley for decades and recognizing the guitarist’s enormous impact on rock music and the lives of innumerable admirers.
Rest in Power, Spaceman
As they grieve this profound loss, we offer our deepest sympathies to Frehley’s family, friends, loved ones, KISS bandmates, community, fans, and coworkers. In the midst of their sorrow, we wish them healing.
