Keith Urban’s Guitarist Sends Fans Into Frenzy With Surprising Instagram Post

Fans are pointing fingers at a young country music singer who just performed with Keith Urban, who is now the subject of a flurry of rumors.

When artist Maggie Baugh teased her new song, “10 20s Summer,” on Instagram, the commotion started.

It came with a brazen caption that read, “Not to brag but…. I just wrote the song of the summer. Listen to this and let me know what you think.”

However, the timing? Absolutely explosive. Fans were shocked, suspicious, and hankering after explanations when the post was made, right after rumors surfaced that Urban and his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, had discreetly split up.

Not a Coincidence? Post Drops Hours Before Shocking Separation Reports Surface

The Oscar-winning actress and the country crooner have reportedly been living apart since the start of the summer, according to TMZ. Urban’s absence from the family home has reportedly left Kidman “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”

Insiders shockingly disclosed that the separation was not reciprocal. “Keith has acquired his own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their family home,” a source confirmed to TMZ.

According to the story, Kidman has been trying desperately to keep the marriage intact and did not want the split.

Innocent Tune — or Secret Confession? Fans Accuse Singer of Breaking Up Hollywood Royalty

Fans poured allegations like wildfire at the Baugh’s Instagram post as suspicions circulated.

Someone sighed, “You bragging that you stole Keith from classy Nicole [sic]!!”

Another scolded, “I think it’s no Nicole Kidman. Lord I hope you’re not the reason the broke up. yikes [sic].”

And the whispers only grew louder, “Oh is that about Keith?” one netizen dared to ask.

Misplaced Blame or Mob Mentality? Some People Jump to the Singer’s Support

In spite of the criticism, a number of admirers jumped to the singer’s support, pleading with others to reconsider their comments.

One pleaded, “What if you’re all wrong about these rumors and you’re just attacking an innocent young woman? What about that? Have you considered what it might be doing to her if you’re all wrong? Pack mentality isn’t cool.”

Another praised her raw talent, “Yall need to stop! She is a great artist and honestly her career is going to skyrocket now because of the trolls [sic].”

And one reminder stood out, “No one knows for a fact that she’s involved with him. Please don’t attack this woman.”

No Comment… For Now

The artist has not officially addressed the mounting wave of rumors.

No information on a personal relationship between her and Urban outside of their on-stage partnership has been confirmed as of yet.

That harmless little teaser post has become a lightning rod for scandal, but the internet won’t let the issue go away now that Kidman and Urban’s marital problems are in the public eye.

As we previously reported, Urban recently name-dropped Baugh during a live performance of the song “The Fighter,” which is thought to have been inspired by Kidman, in an unexpected moment that drove internet users into a frenzy.

The young singer-songwriter was thrust into the spotlight after the modest lyric alteration went viral, shedding light on her convoluted and frequently difficult journey from harassed teen to internet superstar and headline act.

1. She Is a Classically Trained Artist but Fell in Love with Making Her Own Music

Baugh, who was born in Boca Raton, Florida, started learning music at the age of six and was taught how to play the classical violin. She grew up listening to symphony programs and sheet music, but her heart was drawn to self-written songs, soul-baring melodies, and naked lyrics.

She released her first record as a teenager and began performing at festivals across the southeastern U.S. “I started going to Nashville [Tenn.] when I was 13 and started songwriting around the same age,” Baugh recalled. “I put out my very first record when I was 13 years old.” She eventually uprooted her life to move to Nashville at 18.

She found comfort in singing and songwriting, a personal love that quickly became a career, while battling bullying at school. Her violin teacher’s suggestion that she try playing the guitar was a turning point. Everything changed after that little proposal, which signaled her transition from classical vocalist to country music producer.

Her departure from classical music was very personal, not rebellious. Her gregarious nature was not suited to the solitary world of orchestras. She yearned for independence, a place where she could express and create her own reality.

She discovered it in country music, and she fully asserted it by creating her own album, “Entertainers Heart,” on her own.

2. She Blew up on TikTok with Her Viral Series, ‘Finish the Lick’

Despite her initial misgivings about social media, Baugh’s original series “Finish the Lick” caused her to become a sensation on TikTok. She first shunned the platform, calling herself a “old soul” who was too preoccupied with touring to give a damn about fashion. However, inspiration struck one evening in early 2022.

“And so literally a month ago I was just in my room hanging out and I was, I want to do this thing called finish the Lick [sic]. All these girls are doing like finish the lyric,” she said. “And I was, okay, that’s just way overplayed. And I was, what can I do that’s different because I’m such a rule breaker.”

The series took off with a little help from a neighbor and a few segments shot in a bedroom. “Finish the Lick” showcased her incredibly quick guitar playing and encouraged others to build upon her riffs. Her following skyrocketed in a matter of weeks, reaching 80,000 in a single month, with videos garnering millions of views.

But for Baugh, nothing beats a live crowd. “I’m such an entertainer. I love being on stage. I love touring. My definition of success is when I see a bunch of people out in the audience cheering,” she explained.

3. She Auditioned for ‘America’s Got Talent’ at 11

At the young age of 11, Baugh traveled to Austin, Texas, with her family to try out for America’s Got Talent long before she had any ambitions of being famous on the internet or moving to Nashville. Even though she didn’t make the cut, the experience would have a significant impact on her career.

She now laughs about the embarrassing occasion she soiled her pants while riding the elevator with her family that same day after being ridiculed by her father.

However, redemption arrived the following evening. She busked outside the taverns, brought her fiddle to Sixth Street, attracted a crowd, and earned enough tips to purchase her first guitar. Her ticket to the stage and her current way of life would be that instrument.

4. Keith Urban Recruited Her to Be a Part of His Band

The biggest break for Baugh occurred during a huge televised concert when Keith Urban asked her to play multi-instrumentalist in his band. Baugh was the ideal fit for Urban, who was looking for female musicians who could play both guitar and violin.

Pittsburgh Music Magazine claims that in addition to performing at the Country Music Television (CMT) Awards, she also accompanied Urban on tour, earning practical knowledge that will support her current 60-date, international “Entertainers Heart” headlining tour.

5. Her Thoughts on Working with the Iconic Star

Performing alongside a global icon left a deep impression on Baugh, not just musically, but personally. “Working with him was like going to rock star school. He is a musical encyclopedia,” she said.

And she’s loving every minute of life on the road. In an Instagram post from her Chicago tour stop on September 24, she shared her excitement: “It is always a blast hanging with Keith and the Crew. Grateful to be in Chicago TONIGHT. Yall let’s GO.”

6. Public Blames Keith Urban’s Divorce on Her After His Onstage Tribute

“The Fighter” was initially written as a very personal ode to Kidman, but it was long believed to be an emotional promise made by the singer to his wife.

The original line sung as, “When they’re tryin’ to get to you. Baby, I’ll be the fighter,” was suddenly, and without warning, replaced with, “When they try to get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”

The Instagram clip exploded, drawing hundreds of shocked and outraged reactions. One person wrote, “OK, dumping Nicole is looking more suspect.” Another added, “@a_sweet_life_always most definitely. She’s been in his band for a year after he kicked out other long time members. Suspect for sure [sic].”

Things quickly got uglier, with one netizen claiming, “@sherylash It’s so very obvious she stole him from Nicole.. Feel so sorry for Nicole.. He will dump her too when the party is over and he see [sic] the classy lady he is losing.”

Another added with brutal bluntness, “@tracyahooper So he goes and sleeps with his guitar player and slaps Nicole in the face by changing the lyrics in a song he wrote for her to include the other woman?” And one devastated fan wrote, “You broke up Keith Urban and Nicole. Homewrecker.”

Some were convinced this was a textbook case of a midlife crisis unraveling in real time. “@calisun123 ya he’s in his mid life crisis era. He dumped the classy, moving on to the trashy, and then he’ll move on again. This kind of guy can’t stand to be single. And he’s looking more and more like his ego and macho-ness is in jeopardy [sic],” one person claimed.

Keith Urban has always said that the song captures his relationship with Nicole Kidman; in 2018, he even told fans:

“She liked it, I mean, it was such an easy song to write because it was born of real conversations Nick and I had had before we got married, and some of those fears that she had about it, and me wanting to be able to make vows to her — promises to her that I knew I could keep. You just need that chance, just give me a chance, you know.”

He went even further, “In a lot of ways, the song feels like vows, you know, they’re really, ‘oh this is what I promise I’ll be and do, and I’ll take care of you and keep the world away,’ and it was very easy to write from that perspective.”
