In The Midst Of Dementia Battle, Bruce Willis And Demi Moore Welcome Their First Grandchild

Officially, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore are grandparents!

Rumer Willis, the oldest child of the ex-couple, gave birth to a girl last week.

On Tuesday, she and her boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas announced their engagement.

The new parents captioned a picture of their infant, whom they called Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, “You are pure magic,” and added, “We love you.”

“Born at home on Tuesday April 18th,” they wrote, “You are more than we ever dreamed of.”

In December, Rumer and Derek made the first child-sharing announcement.

Moore acknowledged her enthusiasm for her new life position.

“Entering my hot kooky unhinged grandma era,” she wrote in the caption when she reshared her daughter’s announcement.

Since Rumer’s father Bruce has been publicly battling frontotemporal dementia, Rumer’s pregnancy has come at a challenging time for the family.

Nevertheless, everyone has been incredibly enthusiastic about adding a new member to the family in spite of the devastating diagnosis.

“[My parents] are so excited. My sisters are so excited, and it’s so fun to be bringing in the first grandkid in our family, especially because we’re such a huge group at this point,” she told People.

She continued by saying that the excitement had also helped her get through some of the more trying circumstances she had faced recently.

“…even those moments that are challenging, or feel frustrating, I’m just so excited, that always kind of trumps [everything]… But, it’s wild. It’s the wildest experience, even more so than I ever thought of.”

Best wishes to Rumer and Derek! And congrats to Bruce and Demi on their new role as grandparents! I hope you all enjoy this unique period of your lives.
