In Response To A Recent Donald Trump Directive, Selena Gomez Uploads An Emotional Video

Selena Gomez posted an unguarded video on her social media sites.

The ‘Wolves’ singer had previously been a vocal advocate for immigration, but she was moved to tears by Donald Trump’s actions during his first week in office.

Gomez’s video was released the day after 956 individuals were detained in a nationwide immigration operation, according to the BBC, as a result of one of the laws that Trump signed into law after assuming the presidency.

Other measures call for the country to recognize only two genders and pardon 1,500 US Capitol rioters.

Gomez, who has previously referred to herself as a “proud third-generation American-Mexican,” feels a strong connection to her Mexican background, even though she was born in Texas, USA.

The 32-year-old then shared a since-deleted video on Instagram in which she was seen crying and expressing her displeasure with Trump’s immigration-cutting policy.

Captioning the video ‘I’m sorry’ with a Mexican flag emoji, she said, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand.”

“I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise,” she concluded while wiping her tears away.

“Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” she wrote as she captioned a blank screen video that she removed shortly after.

The BBC also stated that 286 arrests were made on Saturday, 593 on Friday, and 538 on Thursday, before Sunday (January 26) saw 956 arrests, the largest in a single day since Trump became the 47th US President.

Additionally, according to ICE data, over 1,000 individuals were evacuated or returned home on Thursday.

As part of the new order, the President authorized the use of American military soldiers to patrol the US-Mexico border after declaring a “national emergency.”

Additionally, it stated that Mexican drug gangs are now considered “foreign terrorist organizations” and that children of unauthorized immigrants born in the US will no longer be automatically awarded citizenship.

Today, the edict refers to American citizenship as ‘a priceless and meaningful blessing’.

The US Refugee Admissions Program was also suspended by another executive order.

“Until such time as the further entry into the United States of refugees aligns with the interests of the United States,” added the statement.

It states that “The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security may jointly determine to admit aliens to the United States as refugees on a case-by-case basis, in their discretion, but only so long as they determine that the entry of such aliens as refugees is in the national interest and does not pose a threat to the security or welfare of the United States.”
