If Trump Makes One “Unpredictable” Move, He “Could Be Removed” From The White House
Donald Trump and his close friends are in a lot of trouble because secret Signal group messages that were leaked made people question his credibility as a leader.
Are there any additional challenges the president needs to address?
Even though Donald Trump has only been back in the White House for a little over 100 days, people are already starting to wonder how stable his government is.
Adam Boulton, a veteran political analyst, says that Trump’s biggest threat may not come from the Democrats but from within his own administration, especially from JD Vance, who is Vice President.
Boulton suggests that Trump’s unpredictable leadership style could ultimately weaken his position. Writing in The i, he noted, ”Should Trump become more of an unpredictable liability — tanking the economy with tariffs, say, or pushing America into an armed confrontation with an ally — then Republicans, including cabinet members, may decide that his comparatively squeaky-clean, family-oriented VP is a better bet to keep them in power.”

The challenges facing Trump’s presidency
Trump has signed a lot of executive orders since he got back into office. Some of them have made even his biggest fans nervous.
His government has been tough on trade, putting tariffs on important partners like Canada and Mexico. He has also done some controversial things in foreign policy, like changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico, briefly cutting off aid to Ukraine, and starting the process of sending Venezuelans back to El Salvador. People are also upset about how hostile he is toward Greenland; some think he wants to take over the island.
Reports say that Trump’s erratic choices and long history of personal and political scandals have made people close to him uncomfortable. As things get worse, some people in the government may see JD Vance as a safer choice.
JD Vance’s complicated history with Trump
Vance, who wrote Hillbilly Elegy and used to work as a venture investor, once spoke out strongly against Trump, calling him “America’s Hitler.”
After some time, though, he changed his mind, and now he is one of Trump’s most loyal supporters.
Trump’s view of JD Vance as one of his closest allies was hurt by the Signal group scandal and the messages he sent to journalist Jeffrey Goldberg that were later made public. In the chats, Vance seemed to criticize Trump in a subtle way, which made political observers scratch their heads.

Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was accidentally in on the conversation and says Vance asked the president if he understood the contradiction in his position. To protect international shipping lanes, Trump wanted the United States to attack the Houthis on its own, but he also wanted European countries to do more to help.
“I am not sure the president is aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now,” Vance wrote in the chat, according to Goldberg.
As Vice President, JD Vance has one of the most important jobs in the country. If the political situation calls for it, he could be in line to become president. Some conservatives think Vance would be a good choice to lead the country if Trump fails, but others doubt that he will always follow the right ideas.
His changing views on Trump make people worry about how he would run the country if he were elected.
A nation on edge
This discussion about Trump’s stability comes at a time when democracy in the U.S. is facing scrutiny. Staffan Lindberg, a political scientist at V-Dem, warned that “the USA now seems to be heading towards a transition away from democracy under President Trump. In my view, the reverberations of this are and will be enormous across the world.”
Tara Setmayer, a former Republican communications director, echoed these concerns, telling The Guardian: ”We are approaching Defcon 1 for our democracy, and a lot of people in the media and the opposition leadership don’t seem to be communicating that to the American people. That is the biggest danger of the moment we’re in now: the normalization of it.”
Some of Trump’s actions have made these worries even worse. In a widely reported incident, a French scientist was reportedly barred from entering the U.S. after border officials found text messages on his phone that criticized the Trump administration.
France’s minister of higher education and research condemned the move, saying that the researcher was denied entry ”because the researcher’s phone contained exchanges with colleagues and friends in which he expressed a personal opinion on the Trump administration’s research policy.”
How could Trump be removed from office?
If political tensions within the government continue to escalate, there are several ways Trump could be removed from power. The most well-known choice is impeachment, a process Trump survived twice during his first term.
Another option is the invocation of the 25th Amendment. Under this process, Vice President Vance and a majority of the cabinet could designate Trump ”unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
Trump would have the right to challenge this ruling, at which point Congress would step in. A two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate would be needed to permanently remove him from office.
A third option could be political pressure leading to Trump’s resignation, similar to what happened with President Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. While such a result may seem unlikely, Trump’s unpredictable nature and growing tensions within his administration could push Republicans to consider alternative leadership.
Would a Vance presidency be any different?
Even if JD Vance were to take over, there’s no guarantee he would lead the country in a dramatically different way. Many experts argue that Vance has aligned himself so closely with Trump that his presidency might simply be an extension of the current government.
Regardless of what unfolds in the coming months, one thing is clear: the Trump White House remains as unpredictable as ever, and the chance of internal power struggles is very real. As more questions are raised about the government, all eyes will be on JD Vance, whether he is Trump’s loyal second-in-command or a possible replacement.
