FBI Releases Photo Of Person Of Interest In Charlie Kirk Assassination

A picture of a person of interest connected to the murder of American activist Charlie Kirk has been made public by the FBI.

Following Kirk’s death at a debating event at Utah Valley University, the FBI office for Salt Lake City, Utah, posted two photos of the person of interest on X, formerly Twitter, today (September 11).

On September 10, Kirk, a personal friend of President Donald Trump and co-founder of the youth organization Turning Point USA, was shot once when he was speaking in front of an audience. After being taken to the hospital, he passed away from his wounds.

As of this writing, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the murder, although the gunman was described as wearing dark clothing when they fired the shot from a neighboring rooftop.

The FBI is ‘seeking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the deadly shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,’ according to the description that was posted with the photos.

“1-800-CALL-FBI”, the agency added, for anyone with information.

Following Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason’s announcement on September 11 that officials had “good video” of the gunman, the photos were made public.

Although Mason promised that they would seek the public’s assistance if necessary, he stated that officials were “working through some technologies and some ways to identify this individual.”

“If we are unsuccessful, we will reach out to you as the media and we will push that publicly to help us identify them,” Mason said. “But we are confident in our abilities right now.”

While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have given a notion that the shooter fled the scene by blending in on the campus where Kirk was shot after jumping over the building’s top.

They observed that the shooter seemed to be ‘college age’.

Following the shooting, Utah Valley University promptly evacuated its campus while police began looking for the shooter.

Police found what they believe to be the gun used in the killing in a “wooded area where the shooter had fled,” according to Robert Bohls, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office.

‘High-powered, bolt action rifle’ was how Bohls defined the weapon during a press briefing. The weapon will now be examined by the FBI.
