Blake Shelton Brings 6-Year-Old Awaiting Heart Transplant On Stage For Emotional Duet
During one of his concerts in early 2022, country music icon Blake Shelton gave a touching surprise by inviting Wyatt McKee, a six-year-old fan who was waiting for a heart transplant, to join him on stage to sing “God’s Country.”
A Special Sign Makes Its Way to Blake
During a performance in Durant, Oklahoma, Wyatt displayed a homemade placard that read:
“Your smallest, biggest fan from Lake Texoma, 6 years old waiting on a heart transplant.”
Shelton was so moved by the message that he stopped the show, bent down, and asked Wyatt his name. The young fan gave a timid response. As Shelton read the sign out loud and praised the boy’s bravery, the audience responded with loving “awwws” and applauding ovation.

A Duet to Remember: “God’s Country”
Beyond the limelight, Shelton showed warmth and humility by telling the audience:
“If y’all think y’all are having a bad day, put that into perspective right there, man.”
After that, he gave Wyatt a guitar pick and asked him to come onstage with him so they could perform a duet of his 2019 single, “God’s Country.” Before he returned to his mother’s embrace, Wyatt bravely took the mic and joined Shelton in singing. The concert ended with Shelton turning to Wyatt and praising him, saying, “Ain’t that right, Wyatt!”
Why This Moment Resonates
