Austin Metcalf’s Last Post Leaves Internet In Tears

Following the death of Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old student from Texas, who was stabbed during a track and field competition, condolences are flooding in.

Tragically, on Wednesday, April 2, Frisco Police and Fire were called to an incident at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, located in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane.

Authorities were notified of “an altercation between two students” that “resulted in one of them stabbing the other,” as has now been revealed. Austin, 17, was the casualty; he and his twin brother were there at the track and field competition.

Social media users paid tribute to the teen as soon as word of the tragic tragedy spread, and family members discussed the “senseless” act.

In light of his passing, Austin’s March 31 last post on X has taken on a special poignancy.

“Faith that god got me and my work will pay off,” the student wrote.

Other X users were quick to pay their condolences. One penned: “What a precious heart. He was taken from the world too soon. Although we may not understand the timing, I know God has him now.”

Another added: “Praying for Strength and Courage for the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time…”

According to the New York Post, Austin and Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old competitor, engaged in a fight on April 2 during the track and field competition. Prior to the day of the incident, the two had never met.

According to reports, Austin told Anthony, who goes to another school, to get out of the tent at Frisco Memorial High School after he was sitting there in the stands.

Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, who was also there, told WFAA: “And my brother stepped in and said, ‘You need to move. And he’s like, ‘Make me move.’”

Then, allegedly, Anthony reached inside his rucksack and produced a knife. Then he stabbed Austin in the chest.

Hunter tragically disclosed how, while waiting for emergency personnel to come, he tried to halt the bleeding by holding his brother in his arms.

Then, when Austin was put on a gurney, he contacted the twins’ parents.

“I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder,” Austin and Hunter’s father, Jeff Metcalf, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

“He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable,” Jeff wrote on GoFundMe established after the stabbing.

Following his arrest, Karmelo Anthony was accused of first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing. On a $1 million bond, he is still being held at Collin County Jail.

Meanwhile, Anthony’s father said he wasn’t the aggressor and called his son a “good kid.”

“Everyone has already made their assumptions about my son, but he’s not what they’re making him out to be,” Andrew Anthony told the New York Post.

“He was not the aggressor. He was not the one who started it.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Austin Metcalf’s family. Peace be with you.
