Airport K9 Dog Alerts Officers To Pregnant Woman’s Undiagnosed Medical Emergency
People were scrambling to catch their flights at Houston International Airport, which was as packed as ever. Then, in the midst of the throng, Shadow, a seasoned German Shepherd K9 with danger detection training, began barking at a woman in the lengthy line. The dog’s response scared her, who was seven months pregnant.
She was requested to come forward by the officers. They searched her possessions thoroughly, but they found nothing unusual. Shadow continued to bark at her and sniff her, though.
Perplexed, the cops considered their next course of action. Should the woman be released?
The whole thing saddened and unnerved her, especially since she was heavily pregnant.
Agent Grant then recalled that Shadow had been trained as a medical alert service dog, just as they were about to release her. Was there a problem with this lady?

He told her that he wanted to check on her by calling the emergency services just to be sure. After a moment of hesitation, the woman consented.
To everyone’s amazement, the medical staff found uterine rupture, an uncommon and dangerous birth complication in which the uterine wall tears.
The mother gave birth too soon after being hurried to the local hospital.
Although her infant was still very small and kept in an incubator, he and his mother were fortunate to be unharmed.
Shadow saved two lives that day. He was able to sense that something wasn’t right with that woman’s child because of his keen senses.
Dogs can detect substances or changes in body odour brought on by illnesses or other medical situations since they have up to 300 million scent receptors.
When Shadow and Agent Grant visited the woman in the hospital a few days after the event, she and the staff expressed their gratitude to Shadow in a well-lit hospital ward.
