After Telling A Woman She Could Not Bring Her Pet Dog On A Plane, An Airport Employee Finds A Terrible Discovery In A Dumpster

After a woman was informed she couldn’t bring her pet dog on an airplane, an airport employee uncovered a terrifying discovery in a dumpster.

Alison Agatha Lawrence of Clermont, Florida, was denied access to a plane on December 16, 2024, when it was reported that she lacked the necessary documentation for the dog.

The 57-year-old is accused of killing the animal by drowning it in a public lavatory prior to the security checkpoint and disposing of its carcass in the trash, notwithstanding her decision to continue with the trip at Orlando International Airport.

An airport employee discovered the dead dog and informed Orlando Police and her boss.

The employee was seen “on her knees cleaning up a lot of water and a lot of dog food of the bathroom handicapped stall,” according to the police statement.

The dog drowned, according to a medical assessment.

Additionally, surveillance footage showed Lawrence showing up at her flight’s gate after leaving the women’s restrooms without the dog.

On Tuesday, March 18, officers arrested Lawrence at her residence for aggravated animal mistreatment. Five hours later, she was freed from Lake County Jail on $5,000 bail, according to People.

Animal cruelty charges in the state carry a maximum five-year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine.

Roy and Janet Fernandes, neighbors, told WFTV that they hadn’t seen the small dog in a long time.

Janet said her husband had said to her: “‘I don’t know why we haven’t seen the lady with the little white dog lately.’ And then we hear this sad story.”

The pair also described how they saw police arrive at Lawrence’s house to make the arrest.

“I kept looking out, wondering what was going on,” Janet remarked.

“Then they left, then they came back. He said he heard a commotion going on outside. That must have been when they arrested her.”

In response, State Senator Tom Leek said in a statement, “This is yet another horrible example of why I filed Senate Bill 502: (Animal Cruelty Offences) related to animal cruelty, which strengthens criminal penalties for those who do harm to innocent animals.”

“It is my commitment to have this good bill pass the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives and sent to Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature.”
