Air India Pilot’s Last Act Before Crash Likely Prevented Catastrophe For Thousands
Before the jet crashed, the captain of the tragic Air India flight is believed to have performed one final act of bravery.
Shortly after taking off on Thursday, June 12, an Air India flight from Ahmedabad began to encounter issues.
The aircraft, which was thought to be a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed and struck a medical college dorm less than a minute after taking off.
270 individuals have died as a result of the trauma thus far, including those on the ground and those inside the aircraft. There was only one passenger who survived to tell the story.

Father of two Arjun Patoliya is one of the victims of the tragic accident.
In order to accomplish his late wife Bharti’s last request to have her ashes sprinkled in Gujarat, Arjun had been visiting India. Two weeks prior, she had passed away due to cancer.
The girls of Arjun and Bharti, ages four and eight, are now orphans.
Although the death toll is tragic, some have theorised that if the plane’s captain had not crashed where he did, the situation might have been considerably worse.
According to LBC, Officer Clive Kunder and Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who together had over 9,000 hours of aviation experience, were piloting the Air India flight.
The massive Civil Hospital Ahmedabad, which is said to have more than 3,000 beds, is located just over 5 miles from Ahmedabad Airport.
However, when it crashed, the pilot avoided the hospital, and some have speculated that he did this on purpose to prevent more deaths.
Discussing the matter on Reddit, one person penned: “Air India AI-171 crashed just 1.7 km from the Ahmedabad airport. It crashed in a somewhat loosely populated area which has doctor’s hostels and mess for medical students of BJMC and Civil Hospital Ahmedabad.”
“Just 400 metres north of the crash site is a civil hospital and south just adjacent to the airport wall is a high-density residential area,” they continued, according to the Daily Star.
Another nearby neighbourhood is Asarva, which had 5,100 residents as of 2020. Many more people would have died if the jet had crashed there.
Many ideas have been put up on the events that led to the accident of the Air India flight, but we won’t have any concrete answers until the black box of the aircraft is examined.
According to the BBC, the device was found on Friday (June 13). Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Minister of Civil Aviation of India, said finding the box marked “an important step forward in the investigation” and that it would “significantly aid the inquiry.”
