Heartwarming Footage Of Divers Helping An Injured Dolphin Will Return Your Faith In Humanity
We knew that whales and dolphins are intelligent, but a research has revealed how little we really know.
They are more like us than you might have suspected, and at the same time, they have also evolved to be perfectly adapted for their marine home.
Research and observations in recent years revealed that whales and dolphins not only have the ability to learn as individuals, but those individuals can then pass their new knowledge onto others. This is a rare intelligence in the animal kingdom.
So how smart are dolphins? This TED talk by renowned scientist Lori Marino, explains how their intelligence evolved.
The night dive when dolphin approached for help
During a night dive at the Gadren Eel Cove in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; a bottlenose dolphin wrapped in a fishing line approached scuba diver Keller Laros for help.
The dolphin’s left pectoral fin was wrapped around fishing line with a hook lodged into its body. The divers, who were well-equipped, signaled the dolphin to approach. (watch the rest in the video below)
It wasn’t long ago since the scientific community recognized the consciousness of animals!
An international group of prominent scientists signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness in which they are proclaiming their support for the idea that animals are conscious and aware to the degree that humans are — a list of animals that includes all mammals, birds, and even the octopus, but will this make us stop treating these animals in a horrible way?
India also recognized dolphins as non-human persons and officially banned dolphin shows!
This is definitely a step in the right direction!
