Elon Musk Cancels Netflix Over Hit Show Despite Its Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score
Despite the show’s strong Rotten Tomatoes rating, Elon Musk is advising users to terminate their Netflix subscriptions because of it.
The CEO of Tesla has devoted a significant portion of today to spreading tweets from people on X (previously Twitter) announcing their intention to terminate their accounts due to the Netflix series.
Responding to a user who wrote that he had just canceled his Netflix subscription, Musk simply wrote: “Same.” In another post, he recommended that parents “cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.”

What is the show called?
Dead End: Paranormal Park, the series in issue, ran for two seasons and twenty episodes in 2022.
There is no doubting its praise, as seen by its 73% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and its 100% Tomatometer score from critics.
Musk criticizes the show’s content for children
A scene from the program where Barney Guttman, the main character, announces his gender identity has recently made a comeback online.
Groups like Gays Against Groomers and Libs of TikTok have taken notice of this incident, arguing that the show, which is rated TV-Y7 and targeted at youngsters, shouldn’t discuss such subjects.
Musk has shared and endorsed posts from individuals who have demanded that Netflix users terminate their subscriptions, claiming that the service is pushing transgender-related content towards younger audiences.
Musk’s ongoing criticism of the trans community
Musk’s public position on the trans community is linked to his condemnation of the show. Vivian Jenna Wilson, his 21-year-old daughter who had a transition, has been vocal about her father’s opinions.
Musk has made a number of contentious remarks regarding his daughter’s transition; in 2024, he even brought it up in an interview with Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson.
Tension increased when he claimed that the “woke mind virus” had “killed” his relationship with her.
Previous boycotts and Netflix’s stance
Previously, Netflix has been the subject of criticism. The streaming channel was criticized in 2021 for comedian Dave Chappelle’s harsh jokes regarding the trans community in his specials.
Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, responded to the criticism by defending the company’s dedication to artistic freedom and asserting that while it was difficult to please everyone, Netflix will still support its creators.
Musk has previously spat with Apple about OpenAI and spearheaded campaigns to boycott other outlets, including Facebook and NPR. His position on Dead End: Paranormal Park continues a trend in which he opposes platforms.
