Charlie Kirk’s Biggest Rival Breaks Silence With Raw Reaction To His Death
One of his main “rivals,” Dean Withers, did what he usually does after Charlie Kirk was killed: he went live. However, the 21-year-old livestreamer started crying instead of engaging in a heated argument.
For Withers’s millions of fans, who view him as one of the most incisive young critics of conservatism on the internet, it was a poignant moment.
Withers gained notoriety on social media in 2023 as his films began to attract a lot of attention, such as the clip “Can One Woke Teen Survive 20 Trump Supporters?” gaining millions of views and going viral.
Withers, who has hundreds of thousands of YouTube subscribers and over 4.3 million TikTok followers, frequently debated well-known politicians, such as Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was killed on September 10 at Utah Valley University.
Withers initially held Kirk’s conservative beliefs, but as he grew older, he adopted progressive viewpoints and reframed his program to emphasize equality and social justice.
During his livestream, viewers saw a rare side of Withers—less the sharp political commentator, more a person deeply affected by the death of someone who had long been part of his journey, even as an opponent.
“I’m sad, distraught. In fact, I just cried in front of my livestream in front of 250,000 people,” Withers said to his followers. “Gun violence is always disgusting, always vile and always abhorrent.”
He then added, “I’m sorry that you guys have to see me like this. You know, I see a handful of people saying, ‘Maybe you should take a second’ in the stream. I kind of want you guys to see this. I want you to see how I feel because there are so many people in here right now and I want to, if I can, set the tone for what the public’s response to this is,” Withers said.
He prayed and conveyed his condolences to Charlie Kirk’s family and everyone who saw Kirk shot so viciously.
