Country Star Pat Green Reveals Devastating Personal Loss In Texas Flood Tragedy
In the wake of the tragic floods in Texas, country music artist Pat Green is openly lamenting a significant personal sorrow. His family is currently dealing with a great deal of grief.
On the weekend of July 4, 2025, the Guadalupe River experienced catastrophic flash floods. Numerous people lost their houses, belongings, and loved ones, and dozens more people died.
The well-known country music performer Pat Green is one of the deceased. Green recently shared on Instagram how the tragedy affected his family on a very personal level.
“Over the weekend, during devastating flooding that hit Central Texas, my family—like so many others—suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss,” Green wrote. She continued:
“We are grieving alongside countless Texans whose lives have been upended by this tragedy.”
Pat also asked for space and privacy so that his family could grieve and come to terms with the loss. He expressed gratitude to the people for their “compassion, prayers, and love.”
In a separate post, Pat’s wife, Kori Green, shared more details about the family’s loss. “We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and concern. Pat’s little brother John, his wife, Julia, and two of their children were swept away in the Kerrville flood,” Kori wrote.
“We are heartbroken and anxiously waiting for all of them to be found. Thank you for your prayers,” she added.
More than 111 deaths have been confirmed by officials in six Central Texas counties as of Monday, July 7, 2025. The counties of Kerr, Travis, Burnet, Kendall, Tom Green, and Williamson are the most severely impacted.
Kerr County has been the site of the majority of confirmed deaths to date. About 57 adults and 30 children, for a total of 87 deaths, were among the deceased, according to a public announcement from the local administration.
The flood completely destroyed Kerr County’s Christian summer camp, Camp Mystic. On its official website, the camp said Monday that it was “grieving the loss of 27 campers and counsellors.”
Seven deaths in Kendall County, seven more in Travis County, five in Burnet County, three in Williamson County, and one in Tom Green County have also been verified as of July 7.

As of Tuesday, July 8, 173 individuals were still missing in the area, according to Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Five summer camp-age children, one camp counsellor, and one unaffiliated child are included in that total.
On July 4, the day of the storm, the Guadalupe River’s water levels allegedly rose by 20 to 26 feet. In less than 90 minutes, the river in Kerrville climbed 20 feet.
According to eyewitness reports, there may have been a flood wave involved in the sudden flooding. When he opened a door in his home on Friday, one survivor remembered seeing “a huge wall of water that was pushing me backwards.”
The incident has prompted responses from federal, state, and municipal officials. Funds are being raised, and volunteers and in-kind donations are being directed to local organisations by Kerr County officials.
On Saturday, July 5, Governor Abbott signed a proclamation announcing a severe disaster in Texas.
Bandera, Bexar, Burnet, Caldwell, Coke, Comal, Concho, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Reeves, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties were among the counties he specifically declared to be under a state of disaster.
One day following Governor Abbott’s proclamation, on Sunday, July 6, President Donald Trump declared a major disaster in Texas.
The Texas National Guard and the U.S. Border Patrol are assisting with the ongoing search and rescue operations. To assist rescuers, authorities are using Black Hawk helicopters and military drones.
California and Mexico have both offered help. To safeguard search and rescue planes, the FAA has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction along the Guadalupe River through July 13.
