Tressa Middleton, Once Britain’s Youngest Mum, Expecting Fourth Daughter At 29

When Tressa Middleton gave birth at the age of 12 years and 8 months in 2006, she made news as the youngest mother in Britain.

Because of the national outcry over her pregnancy, she was unable to go outside without being noticed.

Tressa said at the time that the baby’s father was a local boy, but the reality was far more startling.

Tressa Middleton was born into poverty

1994 saw the birth of Tressa Middleton in Broxburn, Scotland. When she was placed in foster care at the age of four, she had to mature quickly.

Reflecting on her early childhood, Tressa said, ”My mom was homeless, and I had to go into care. All my friends were older than me. I also started drinking when I was eight or nine.”

”I remember one day, my foster carers arranged a birthday party for me at McDonald’s and let me see my brother, Jason.”

Tressa’s life became turbulent when she was eventually able to return to living with her mother. When winter came, their flat was dark and freezing, and her mother was struggling to make ends meet.

Tressa could see the clouds of her breath leaving from her mouth when she woke up, and her mother’s income was hardly enough to even turn on the gas. Money for heat went to a tiny radiator in the living room if there was any. Tressa frequently only had access to one meal per day.

Took the child from her

When Tressa’s pregnancy was made public, she was only 11 years old, and it was thought to have been the consequence of an encounter fuelled by alcohol.

Tressa gave birth soon after completing elementary school and was raised in a dysfunctional and impoverished household with an addicted mother.

Annie, her daughter, was taken from Tressa two years after she was born.

The young mother battled depression and alcohol and cigarette addictions, making it impossible to care for her daughter.

“She was given to new parents, but I was allowed to see her every day for about six months before contact stopped. The last time I saw her was at a crèche – but she was crying for her new parents. It broke my heart,” Tressa told Closer.

Tressa was unable to cope with all of the stress, criticism, and heartache. The identity of the child’s father was still another problem that plagued her.

Nobody knew the truth

The truth was far more sinister than Tressa’s initial assertion that she became pregnant because of a young local lad. Until 2009, when the young mother broke down and told authorities that she had been sexually molested by her older brother, Jason Middleton, the father’s identity was kept a secret.

After being attacked by her 16-year-old brother at a construction site, Tressa became pregnant.

”We used to go there and play our bikes. One minute he was absolutely find and the next everything was different,” Tressa told ITV.

Tressa’s body started to change shortly after the occurrence.

The first person to speculate that she might be pregnant was her friend. One day, she drew Tressa away and brought up the subject, but Tressa made an effort to refute it. They had her friend’s father purchase a pregnancy test since she thought they should check.

The terrible, dark secret

Tressa took the test the following morning, and the results showed that she was indeed pregnant.

Even at that young age, Tressa didn’t think of ending the pregnancy because she didn’t support abortion. Her aunt was present when she and her friend went to her mother’s house to ask her to tell her. When Tressa’s friend informed her aunt that she was expecting, her aunt advised her to conceal right away.

Wrapped in a towel, her mother went out after Tressa and chased her into the street when she heard the news while she was in the bathtub.

Only after her daughter was born did Tressa eventually find the strength to come clean about the father’s true identity.

$500-a-day heroin addiction

Jason, who is currently 35 years old, was convicted of rape after being connected to the incident by DNA evidence. The Glasgow High Court condemned him to four years in prison.

It was discovered during the trial that Jason had been mistreating Tressa since she was just seven years old. After that, Tressa’s life collapsed, and she battled heroin addiction for a year while feeling hopeless and damaged.

Tressa talked about the anguish she had experienced a few years following the trial.

She told the Daily Mail: ”Sometimes he (her brother) bribed me, blackmailed me, to do it. He’d say he was going to tell Mom. He’d give me things – joints, drink, cigarettes. Or he’d threaten me.”

But she found the strength to start over with the love and support of her fiancé, Darren. They conquered their obstacles and became clean together.

After being addicted to heroin at a rate of $500 a day, Tressa battled to rebuild her life and was able to become clean, according to The Sun.

Tressa Middleton brother – why she forgave him

Tressa has experienced more suffering and upheaval in the years since the birth than most individuals do in their lifetime. When Tressa found out she was pregnant in 2012, she and Darren were overjoyed, but they were devastated when she miscarried.

Her mother, who was 41 years old, died of pneumonia three days later.

She unexpectedly met her rapist brother, Jason, for the first time in four years after her mother’s heartbreaking death.

They met at the funeral for their mother. Jason assisted in carrying their mother’s casket after serving a prison sentence for the heinous crime he perpetrated on Tressa. Both siblings were clearly distraught, crying during the solemn occasion, but they avoided eye contact and maintained their distance.

Despite the painful past, Tressa found it within herself to forgive him. She reflected, ”I didn’t feel any hatred towards him. I know what he did was wrong, and so does he. But my mum wouldn’t want it to ruin our lives. She can rest in peace knowing we’re moving on. I forgive him.”

As previously stated, at the age of two, Tressa was forced to place her first daughter for adoption. She did admit, though, that she had never stopped thinking about her in her 2015 book.

“She’s still the first thing I think about every morning and the last thing at night,” Tressa said.

The memories of their final meeting, when her daughter was three, continue to haunt Tressa. She recalled, ”I didn’t realize it would be the last time I’d see her. She didn’t recognize me, and she was scared. I couldn’t even hug her.”

Is Tressa Middleton Britain’s youngest mother?

Before it was discovered in 2021 that an 11-year-old had given birth, Tressa Middleton was the youngest mother in Britain for 15 years.

Her first daughter will never be a secret

When Tressa received her second baby in 2018, it was a moment of mixed emotions. Tressa and her fiancé, Darren, celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Arihanna, who weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, following a difficult 24-hour labour.

A new chapter in Tressa’s life began with the birth of their daughter.

“Arihanna will always know she has a big sister. I talk to her about it now, even though she can’t understand. She’ll never be a secret,” Tressa told The Mirror.

“They are polar opposites – Arihanna is smiley and contented, while my other daughter was vocal and feisty. But I just know they’d get on.”
