Princess Lilibet’s Sweet American Accent Caught On Tape As She Shares Two-Word Review of Meghan’s Jam
The three-year-old heard Princess Lilibet’s endearing American accent for the first time as she delivered her one-word assessment of mother Meghan Markle’s jam.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a video on Instagram on Saturday in which she can be heard making a new pot of strawberry jam and asking Lilibet what she thinks of it.
“It’s beautiful,” the toddler gushed, as her Californian accent shone through.
Meghan has frequently posted glimpses of her life in Montecito, California, since relaunching her Instagram account on New Year’s Day. These include images and videos of her and Prince Harry’s two kids, Prince Archie and Lilibet.
When the Duchess shared a poignant social media tribute to the Sussexes’ departed beagle, Guy, in January 2025, royal admirers heard Lilibet’s voice for the first time.

Meghan’s video featured a clip of Prince Archie and Guy during a vehicle ride, along with a sweet moment of the royal kids singing to the cherished dog.
Since relocating to the United States, Lilibet and Archie, both five, seem to have acquired significant American accents; at one point, viewers can hear Archie speak to the family’s cherished dog by saying, “He might fall,” with a noticeable twang.
Following her attendance at the Time100 Summit on Thursday, Meghan posted her most recent Instagram video.
During a conversation with Time CEO Jessica Sibley, Meghan confessed she had “always” loved to “make things in my kitchen, do small flower arrangements, make a lot of jam,” she added with a laugh.
‘There’s a show here,’ said Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria, when she started sending those things as gifts, the actress-turned-entrepreneur said.
Explaining how her lifestyle series As Ever came to be, Meghan then revealed, “I hadn’t at the onset thought that was something I wanted to share in that way.”
With a final thrust of enthusiasm for her latest project, she added, “Creatively we worked as partners to really find a way for it to land and for me to be able to share it and just have fun, which I think is really the goal in this chapter.”
Given that the show took several months to develop, the Duchess’ claim that she was first shy about the concept will cause some people to take notice.
It was also inextricably linked to the debut of a range of items “inspired” by the show and her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which she has admitted to spending “so many years working on.”
After being initially delayed because of the Los Angeles wildfires, “With Love, Meghan” ultimately debuted on Netflix in March.
Despite all the excitement and anticipation leading up to the premiere, critics criticized the show as a “gormless lifestyle filler” with a “tangible desperation.”
Others said it shows the Duchess is “attempting to cling to fame by any means possible”, while another described how she was “joylessly filling kids’ party bags with seed’s.”
“The mildest way to describe this show is as a ghastly artifact of a particular cultural era that recently met its apocalypse,” Marina Hyde of The Guardian wrote, describing the show as “sensationally absurd and trite.”
Meanwhile, The Telegraph gave the show just two stars. In a review, they said the series was an “exercise in narcissism, filled with extravagant brunches, celebrity pals and business plugs.”
The show was criticized for focusing on Meghan’s “intimate glimpse” of her home life, but it was later disclosed that it was not shot in the mansion in Montecito where she lives with Prince Harry and their two kids.
In contrast, Archie and Lilibet are now frequently featured on the Duchess’ Instagram account.
To the pleasure of her fans, Meghan posted a video showing the former Suits actress creating themed bagels with Archie and Lilibet in February as part of a Valentine’s Day post.
One person wrote, “Harry and Meghan are blessed with a beautiful family. Archie is so tall now and Lili seems so comfortable in the kitchen. She is wielding that butter knife like a pro.”
Another added, “OMG, a little Glimpse of Prince Archie & Princess Lilibet. What a beautiful day.”
‘Auntie’ Serena Williams joined Meghan and Lilibet for a game of Candy Land last month, ahead of the debut of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Meghan also posted a another video of Archie helping her water some plants, in which his voice could be heard.
According to royal analysts, Harry and Meghan seem to have somewhat different opinions on releasing pictures of their kids to the public.
Emily Nash, the royal editor of the magazine, spoke with Matt Wilkinson, the royal editor of The Sun, on the subject during a recent interview on Hello!’s Right Royal podcast.
“My understanding of this is that, up to a certain stage, Harry would much rather his children were not seen,” Matt said.
He added, “Whereas Meghan grew up in California, she once said she would like to have a more California style lifestyle, take them down the beach, go out, do stuff. She doesn’t want to hide them away.”
He pointed out that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, according to the panel, likewise do not include their children’s faces in pictures and videos they distribute, unlike the Duchess.
While the panel discussed the possibility of Archie and Lilibet getting snapped when they are older, Matt said, “I think Harry’s living in [like things are] the way they were when he was a child […] the media landscape has shifted.”
Many of the posts Meghan shared on Instagram featuring glimpses of the children were in the run-up to the release of With Love, Meghan. The video Meghan shared featuring Lilibet (alongside Serena Williams) was tagged with the caption: “3 days until the party begins. All are invited @Netflix.”
Meghan’s appearance on the Drew Barrymore show at the beginning of March also included a little clip that showed Archie and Lilibet.
The Duchess disclosed on the program that she had recruited her kids to assist in the kitchen while she prepared hundreds of cookies for the Drew Barrymore Show visitors.
Meghan disclosed during her appearance on the show that she prepared snacks for the entire cast and crew, as well as for all the fortunate individuals who managed to obtain performance tickets. Then, a video of her and Prince Harry’s two young children helping out while she worked on the sweets flickered over the screen.
