Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Alter Their Children’s Names — Here’s Why
Both of Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s children now go by different names.
The two children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were originally named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
However, their names have now been altered for a contentious cause.
Without a doubt, the two most contentious members of the royal family are Prince Harry and Markle.
In 2020, the duke and duchess violated a significant tradition by deciding to resign as senior royals. Together with their two kids, the couple currently resides in California most of the time.
Their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born on May 6, 2019.

He weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces when he was born at the Portland Hospital in London, making him the eighth heir apparent.
Two days after his birth, Archie attended a significant public occasion where he met his great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, in a more traditional royal form.
Now residing in Montecito, California, the child leads a typical life.
On June 4, 2021, Archie gained the title of big brother.
Lilibet, sometimes known as Lili to her friends, was born in the United States and has avoided the spotlight since infancy.
Given that Elizabeth’s childhood nickname was Lillibet, her family chose her name as a tribute.
However, it has since been established that Archie and Lillibet’s parents altered their names as part of the family’s massive rebranding, which has angered a lot of people.
One person writes, “Instead of rebranding, I would like to see them actually accomplish something. It’s all spin and rather sad.”
Another agrees: “For someone who wanted to get away from the royal family he seems to want a foot in both camps.”
“This pair will do anything to be in the limelight, complete hypocrites. For a couple who wanted to be out of the media, they sure do a great job of staying in it,” adds a third.
Some others, though, are a little happier with the choice.
One supportive follower opines, “Good for them! Get out from under Britain’s oppression of the royals and THRIVE! I wish them all the best!!”
Another adds, “What’s in a name? What’s in a title if it only brings misery in your life? They chose to live their life away from all the toxicity. That is their right. Wishing Harry and his family all the happiness in the world!!! God bless.”
According to the Times, since the coronation of King Charles III, Prince Harry and Markle’s children have gone by Archie and Lilibet Sussex instead of Mountbatten-Windsor.
The pair most recently changed the name of their website to Sussex.com.
According to sources who spoke to the publication, the duke and duchess want to “unify” the family and put all of their endeavors—including their children—under one roof.
An insider tells The Times, “It represents their unification and it’s a proud moment.”
