109-Year-Old Reveals A Secret to a Long And Happy Life

Most people in the world believe that they will not live to be hundred years old.

We watch the news every day, read health statistics, observe our older relatives, and if we live with bad habits, as most people do, the future does not shine so bright.

Even though we are living longer today — the life expectancy of a man in the US is 76, and 81 for a woman – our health is very poor comparing to other developed countries. Not to mention that many of the people live half of their lives with minor or serious health conditions.

To Okinawans (one of the longest living people on Earth) the long lasting secret is adding sweet potato in the diet, a 109-year-old woman from Scotland has a whole new secret.

Scotland’s oldest woman revealed her hilarious secret to living a long and healthy life.

109-year-old Jessie Gallan ascribes her aging to a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning. That, and also staying far away from men.

“They’re just more trouble than they’re worth,” Jessie explained to the Daily Mail. Gallan left home at the age of 13 and began milking cows for work. As a result, she learned early in life the importance of working hard to earn a living. “I worked hard and seldom would I ever take a holiday,” she said.

Jessie carried firm worth ethic with her throughout her entire life. Never married, the remarkable lady refused to rely on anyone but herself.

“She’s absolutely amazing,” said a caregiver at the nursing home where Gallan resided. Even in her second century of life, Jessie thrived. Furthermore, she frequently attended church and exercise classes.

A few short months after revealing her secrets to longevity, Gallan sadly passed away. May she be a reminder us all to live life fully no matter our age.

Who needs men, anyway?
