President Donald Trump Plans Explained, Stating That The United States Will Take Over Greenland “One Way Or The Other”

In his first joint address to Congress, Donald Trump outlined his plan to “Make America Great Again.” Here are the implications for both the US and the rest of the world.

Last night, March 4, the 78-year-old president broke records by giving what is probably the longest joint address in history, which lasted more than 90 minutes.

Trump was able to rattle off a number of plans that he believed would achieve his American dream, touching on topics like Ukraine, Greenland, and… egg prices, despite rounds of applause from Republicans and protests from opposing Democrats, including the expulsion of Congressman Al Green for interrupting the speech.

The US will apparently take Greenland ‘one way or the other’

Trump’s opinions on Greenland gained notoriety in the final days of his campaign as he publicly questioned whether it would be possible to buy or acquire the region.

“I have a’message’ for the people of Greenland,” the president said, reiterating his expansionist intentions.

“We strongly support your right to determine your own future. And if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America,” he said going on to explain that the States ‘needs’ Greenland for national and international security.

“And we’re working with everybody involved to try and get it.”

Trump then went on to say that “we’re going to get it, one way or the other.”

“We will keep you safe. We will make you rich,” he added.

Múte Bourup Egede, the prime minister of Greenland, responded ambivalently to the message, stating that his people “do not wish to be Americans.”

“We are not Americans, we are not Danes, because we are Greenlanders. This is what the Americans and their leaders need to understand,” he said (via ABC).

Denmark presently maintains Greenland as an autonomous territory.

Reducing the price of eggs – but how?

In the US, the theater of eggs is a manifestation of the growing cost of living, which is a global concern.

Blaming the price of eggs on his predecessor, Trump said: “Joe Biden especially let the price of eggs get out of control – and we are working hard to get it back down.”

He went on to say that helping working families and saving the economy were his “very highest priorities,” but he gave no additional explanation of what this would entail.

A potential trade war with new tariffs implemented

Trump’s imposition of fresh tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico earlier this week appears to have sparked a trade war, as the US was hit with retaliatory penalties.

“Tariffs are about making America rich again and making America great again. And it’s happening and it will happen rather quickly. There will be a little disturbance, but we’re ok with that,” he said.

Crackdown on immigration with ‘mass deportations’

Trump’s stance on immigration was a major campaign issue, and the Republican president has since pledged a strict crackdown on immigration and “mass deportations.”

Signing the minerals deal with Ukraine

The highly publicized minerals pact, which would grant the United States access to Ukraine’s natural resources, has not yet been signed by Trump and Zelenskyy after their confrontation in the Oval Office last Friday.

Trump said that President Zelenskyy’s letter made it apparent the Ukrainian leader was prepared to sign the agreement “at any time” despite the delay in signing it.

Opening negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

In a letter to Trump, Zelenskyy once again expressed gratitude to the United States for its support following Russia’s invasion. The letter comes after Zelenskyy issued a statement in which he apologized for the communication breakdown that happened during a heated meeting between him, Trump, and Vance at the White House.

“Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts,” the letter read.

“We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence.”

Despite expressing gratitude, Trump has not yet lifted the recent military aid embargo to Ukraine, and Russia has persisted in its drone operations in the country’s eastern provinces.

Following the reading of the letter to Congress, Trump asserted that he had received “strong signals that they are ready for peace” and that he had had “serious discussions” with Russia.

Trump, however, did not specify when or if he was part in these said discussions.

“It’s time to end this senseless war. If you want to end wars, you have to talk to both sides,” he said.

This comes as a White House official anonymously told Sky News previously: “President [Trump] has been clear that he is focused on peace.”

“We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that is contributing to a solution.”
