Following Michelle Trachtenberg’s Passing, Fans Expressed Concern Over Her Most Recent Images, Saying That She “Looks Sick” With “Yellow Eyes”

At the age of 39, Michelle Trachtenberg, who was well-known for her parts in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl,” was discovered dead in her Manhattan apartment. Days after admirers began to worry about her appearance in recent social media posts, the surprising news was released.

When emergency medical workers arrived, Trachtenberg had already died, despite the NYPD confirming that police had responded to a 911 call reporting a lady in cardiac arrest.
According to sources, she may have died as a result of complications after her liver transplant, including organ rejection. The formal cause of death will be decided by the city medical examiner.
“It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss,” her representative, Gary Mantoosh, said in a statement.
The entertainment industry and Trachtenberg’s hometown were rocked by her death. In the weeks preceding the actress’s passing, neighbors at her apartment complex in Manhattan thought back on their encounters with her.
“Michelle always seemed happy, I never noticed anything off about her at all,” Rafael Williams, who lived above her, revealed. “I didn’t know her personally, but she always made a point to say ‘Hi’ in the elevator. It’s shocking to me because she didn’t seem to have a problem in the world.”
Ariana Rodriguez, another neighbor, also shared her memories of Trachtenberg, describing her as a warm and friendly presence in the building. “Michelle was a great neighbor,” she said.
“She wasn’t loud, smiled at everyone in the hallways. I saw her with her boyfriend a few times and they were always walking either hand-in-hand or with his arm around her,” she added.
According to reports, Trachtenberg was dating Jay Cohen, a partner at The Gersh Agency and a talent agency, at the time of her passing. Cohen has disclosed that he had a kidney transplant in 1999 and has a history of health issues.
In July 2023, on the 24th anniversary of the transplant, he wrote a touching social media post reflecting on his experience and thanking his donor.
Trachtenberg and Cohen had been publicly linked since 2020, and their relationship remained strong. On Valentine’s Day, she posted a loving tribute to Cohen on Instagram, writing, “Happy Valentine’s Day to the man who sits still long enough for me to paint his face. 🖤💚🩶 💋”
Cohen was spotted at her family’s Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, home after Trachtenberg’s death. He informed the Daily Mail, with tears in his eyes, that the family would not be commenting on the tragedy. Additionally, he attested that the actress’s sister and mother were not present at the house at the time.
Concerns regarding Trachtenberg’s health increased in the days preceding her death, particularly following a disturbing public appearance. Less than a week before she passed away, on February 20, the actress was spotted at Sartiano’s, a SoHo restaurant, when the staff apparently became concerned about her fragile state.
“She looked really unwell, just like very sickly,” a worker said, speaking anonymously. “She was thin, like tiny, she couldn’t walk down the stairs. She was not in a great mood, it wasn’t the best impression.”
The employee recalled the eerie realization that Trachtenberg had been there only days before the news of her passing broke. “It’s spooky because she was in here just last week on Thursday night,” they added.
“We only just found out about [her death] a few hours ago and it’s really sad,” they continued. According to the worker, Trachtenberg dined with one other person, described as a “really nice” woman.
In recent months, Rodriguez noticed physical changes in Trachtenberg’s look. She remembered, “She looked less and less like herself,” and said the actress had become “svelte.”

Trachtenberg’s fans have been alarmed by her Instagram posts since 2024. Some followers commented on her rapid weight reduction, pointing out that she seemed noticeably slimmer in some of the pictures.

In November of that year, Trachtenberg shared another selfie on Instagram and one person commented, “It didn’t look so good 😢.” Another shared, “So sorry to find out what happened to you.”
An insider claimed that Trachtenberg was “struggling” prior to her untimely demise, so admirers had good reason to be alarmed.
