Princess Beatrice Gave Birth Prematurely, According To Buckingham Palace, Which Also Revealed The Sweet Name
Congratulations to Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, on the birth of their second child.
On January 22, Beatrice welcomed a 4-pound, 5-ounce daughter into the world.
Athena, the couple’s new baby, was born a few weeks behind schedule.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday January 22 at 12.57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.”
“The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces.”
“Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Athena’s siblings, three-year-old Sienna and eight-year-old Wolfie, are also thought to be at home with Beatrice and her infant daughter.
A picture of their daughter draped in a pink blanket and wearing a long-sleeved baby sleepsuit has been made public by Beatrice and Edoardo.
In December, the princess received medical instructions not to travel vast distances because she was set to give birth in the early spring.
For ‘their outstanding care’, Beatrice and Edoardo have sincerely thanked the staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Back in October, Beatrice declared she was expecting her second child.
In order to make the announcement, the royal family posted new images at the moment. The first one showed young Sienna strolling down a country lane while holding hands with her father and older brother, Wolfie.
In the second picture, Beatrice was beaming broadly at the camera as her husband gave her a hug.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie, aged eight, and Sienna, aged three.”
“His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
The new infant is the Yorks’ fourth grandchild. Beatrice is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Princess Eugenie, Beatrice’s younger sister, has fallen to 12th place in line for the throne, while the baby, who is not an HRH, is ranked 11th.
She is also the second child born since Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022 and the 14th great-grandchild of the late monarch.
