Fans ‘Cannot Even Imagine’ His Wife’s Grief As Bill Hayes, Star of ‘Days Of Our Lives,’ Dies, Survived By 45 Members Of His Family

The well-known “Days of Our Lives” star Bill Hayes has passed away. He posted a picture of himself and his large family, along with Susan Seaforth-Hayes, his wife of nearly fifty years, both on and off screen.

People still mourn the death of Bill Hayes, whose real name was William Foster Hayes III, who died at the age of 98 on January 12, 2024.

His legacy was entwined with that of his devoted spouse, Susan Seaforth-Hayes. Their on-screen and off-screen romance held the attention of viewers for many years.

Hayes played a variety of parts during his career, including a hit song in America in 1955 called “The Ballad of Davy Crockett.” His work on “Days of Our Lives” earned him a share of the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award with his wife, as well as two nominations for Daytime Emmy Awards.

Hayes, best known for playing Doug Williams since 1970, had a romantic history with Seaforth-Hayes that started on the set of the television series.

They tied the knot in October 1974, replicating the on-screen marriage of their characters in 1976, when they actually exchanged vows. William Foster Hayes IV, the couple’s son, was one of their five children.

With twelve grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren still living, Hayes was also a proud grandfather. Posts made on his and his wife’s joint social media accounts demonstrated his love and dedication to his family.

They honored their grandchildren’s accomplishments and significant life events in an emotional message dated February 2022. They expressed pride in their two-parent, four-star restaurant-owning granddaughter Kristie Campbell and their six-parent, investor grandson David Samuel.

Another Instagram photo from January 2022 highlighted Hayes’ part in his grandson David’s small-scale family wedding. Hisordination as a minister of the Universal Life Church, which enabled him to perform the marriage ceremony in front of twenty family members, was highlighted in the post.

Five days before he passed away, Hayes and his spouse posted a Christmas celebration on social media, wishing everyone a happy New Year. Now, the post—which is chock-full of holiday cheer and the couple’s beaming smiles—serves as a poignant farewell to their public relationship.

Following Hayes’ passing, people have flocked to this post to offer their condolences, reiterating feelings of support and sadness. The public’s tremendous sadness is evident in the comments, with one fan expressing, “I can’t even imagine what you must be feeling,” recognizing the immense loss Susan must be going through.
