On His 93rd Birthday, Former Astronaut Buzz Aldrin Married His Lifelong Girlfriend
On his 93rd birthday, former astronaut Buzz Aldrin married his lifelong girlfriend, Anca Faur.
Over 50 years ago, as part of the Apollo 11 mission, Aldrin was one of the first humans to set foot on the moon. He shared the news with the world via Twitter.
“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot,” Aldrin wrote. “We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers.”

Aldrin accompanied the post with two photos of himself and Faur, 63.
In this, his fourth marriage, Aldrin is a veteran of the Apollo program. The former astronaut has been married before, to Lois Driggs Cannon, Beverly Van Zile, and Joan Archer.
Aldrin was one of the first humans to set foot on the moon alongside Neil Armstrong in 1969.
“Looking back, landing on the moon wasn’t just our job, it was a historic opportunity to prove to the world America’s can-do spirit,” Aldrin tweeted on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. “I’m proud to serve the country that gave me this historic opportunity. Today belongs to you. We must hold the memory of #Apollo11 close.”
A representative for the awarding body, Justin Lips, said that Aldrin “is one of the original and founding Living Legends of Aviation.”
“He was honored and celebrated last night at the 20th Annual Awards for his lifetime of accomplishments,” Lips said of Aldrin. “He was joined by his new bride, Anca, and several family and friends.”
According to Living Legends of Aviation, the retired astronaut “went on to fly 66 missions in Korea” after taking his first airplane ride with his father when he was just two years old.
“Astoundingly, walking on the moon barely tops the very long list of successes that have defined his life as a pilot, military and scientist, astronaut and one of the country’s most forward-thinking futurists,” the website states.
As reported by The Associated Press, in 2018, Aldrin filed a lawsuit against two of his daughters and a former business manager, accusing them of fraudulently using his credit cards, transferring funds from an account, and slandering him by claiming he had dementia.
A court battle between Aldrin and his children came to an end when they withdrew their petition seeking guardianship of his affairs and he abandoned the case against them, the site claimed just before the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11.
