8 Things A Hotel Employee Says You Should Never Do While Staying In One
Many people look forward to staying in hotels as a nice getaway. However, a hotel employee said there are still a few things to watch out for when staying in one.
There are eight things that guests should avoid when staying at a hotel, according to a woman who works at the front desk.
Additionally, you might be surprised by some of the items on the list. It’s not as easy as attempting to avoid spills on the carpet or keeping up with cleaning.
These first-hand observations are intended to make sure you have the greatest possible hotel stay.
“I work a front desk at a hotel and I’m gonna read off a list of things you should not do as someone who is coming to visit a hotel,” the lady said on TikTok.
Here is a list of the eight things you should never do while staying at a hotel.

1. Showing up to the hotel on the wrong date
“Do not show up the day after your reservation, thinking that you’re going to check in. It has gone into no-show and we no longer have that reservation,” warned TikToker @mamafromarkansas.
2. Booking third party
According to the TikToker, making a reservation through a third party can make it more difficult for the visitor to modify any aspects of their stay. “Do not book third party, do not book with them… we cannot touch that reservation because you booked third party,” she stated.
3. Booking the wrong dates
The TikToker added that you are solely responsible for your own actions if you choose the incorrect dates for your hotel stay.
“Do not get mad at an employee, because you booked the wrong dates for the reservation – it’s not our fault and we send you a confirmation via email, so that’s your fault for not double checking,” she stated.
4. Checking availability
“There’s no point in repeatedly asking if there’s no availability,” the hotel employee explained.
She warned: “If you call, and ask if we have availability on a certain date, and we tell you no, please don’t ask four more times… I’m looking right at the screen and it’s not giving me any inventory for those dates.”
5. Bringing children to events
“Please don’t bring your kids to an event and let them run a muck in the hotel and tear things up while you’re at the bar getting drunk,” she said.
6. Leaving a bad review
It makes sense that after a negative hotel experience, you could be inclined to leave without providing an explanation and post a negative internet review. However, the hotel employee begged customers not to do this.
“Please do not leave the hotel if you have issues and don’t let us know and then leave and give us a bad review. You did not give us an opportunity to fix your issue,” she said.
7. Checking suitability
Please ensure the hotel meets your requirements by researching before making a reservation.
“Do not book a reservation at a hotel if you have not looked at what amenities the hotel has offer,” she stated.
8. Cancellation policy
The TikToker went on to say that you shouldn’t be the type of person who believes that they are exempt from rules that pertain to them.
She warned, “Please do not be the person who thinks that policies do not apply to you.”
“We have a 24 hour cancellation policy which means if you call the day of your reservation, you’re gonna’ get charged the late cancellation fee.”
