70-Year-Old Woman Who Had Grandchild Using Late Son’s Sperm Shares Shocking Post-Birth Update

A few years ago, a Spanish actress made headlines when she made an odd choice involving the sperm of her deceased son.

When her son, Aless Lequio, passed away from cancer in 2022, Ana Obregón was devastated, but she intended to fulfill his “last wish,” which she stated was to have a child.

Additionally, Ana used the sperm of her departed son to surrogate a kid in 2023.

However, she later clarified that the infant was actually her granddaughter, named Anita.

“This girl is not my daughter, she is my granddaughter. She is Aless’ daughter and when she grows up I will tell her that her dad was a hero, so she knows who he is and how proud she should be of him,” Ana told ¡Hola! in April 2023.

Ana talked candidly about her happiness with her granddaughter in an interview with Spanish TV over the weekend, even though she is still grieving the loss of Aless.

She said her home ‘is full of stuffed animals and toys’, adding, “I even have a little ball pool where she makes me dive in.”

She did, however, add that as baby Anita gets older, it becomes harder for mom to engage with her, including picking her up, because it pains her back.

Ana also thought about how shocked she was to hear that her young kid had a deadly disease.

The 70-year-old continued, “We live our whole lives saying that we are eternal and nothing happens here.”

“Suddenly, one day they tell you at 25 years old that you have an aggressive cancer.”

“You think, that’s not what they told you when you were little. So I have many more fears [with Ana], more than when I had Aless.”

Because of the unusual circumstances and the fact that surrogacy is prohibited in Spain, Ana’s public announcement that the child was conceived through surrogacy created a sensation in that country.

Adopting a kid born overseas is legal, but Anita was born in the US through surrogacy. Ana became the infant’s legal guardian after the birth when she adopted the youngster.

Ana previously discussed the pain of losing her son, stating that she felt “dead for three years” following Aless’ death.

The arrival of her Anita “resurrected her,” she wrote.

In an interview with ¡Hola! to mark her granddaughter’s second birthday in March this year, Ana admitted, “I know I’ll never feel the happiness I had when Aless was with me again.”

“That pain will never go away. You don’t accept or get over the death of a child.”

“You end up accepting that you’ll never be able to come to terms with their departure.”

“Fortunately, Anita now fills my days. I was dead for three years from Aless’ death until Anita was born… Life is a breath of fresh air.”
